I just love this family.

I knew them when it was just these two. I took their engagement photos, when it was like 12 degrees outside. Not even kidding. Then their wedding. Which was a beautiful day and not even close to 12 degrees.

I did their photos when there was three. Miss Brinkley came along with her full head of dark hair.

And then little blondie George.

And recently they added one more. Little Harry. He is the one who is well, hairy. Who I just got the biggest kick out of. He would run, and disappear. Then he would come running at high speed warp and buzz right by us. Make his appearance and off he would go again sometimes for a long while. They didn’t seem to be concerned but in the back of my mind I was thinking Harry was gone forever and it would be on my watch. I can’t have that. He isn’t built for living in the woods. He is little and likes his pillow at home.  We were getting ready to wrap things up, and I am looking around trying to be cool, like Harry isn’t my dog but where the heck did that little dude go? Walked up to our cars and I was just about to say, “should we be looking for Harr-” Bang! There is was. Whew. Get that dog in the car, I am a nervous wreck.

Thank you for all the years for me being a little fly on the wall in your world.

Hey Emily! It’s you!!

I love Emily’s session. Maybe because it was in the beautiful summer month of August. Maybe because I have forgotten what warm weather feels like. Maybe it was her outfit choices. Maybe because she is so stinkin’ cute! I think all the above.

It’s April and it is coming into the home stretch for the seniors. The senior slide begins. But hang on seniors, enjoy these last two months of your high school career. Trust me…you will understand it when you leave. Don’t roll your eyes or sigh, you will see. I am sure you won’t ever say, “Gee, I would love to go back to high school”, but I hope that you have more than a handful of great memories that you can take with you and think fondly of your high school years. Young, full of energy, and no bills! 😀

Hey Emily! I hope your senior year has been awesome!

Also…Roll Cobbs! 🙂

Jordan was a trooper for his senior session. I get it, it isn’t some people’s favorite thing to do is to have someone take picture of themselves, let alone when it is fuf-fuf-fufreezing outside. It may not look like it was cold, but believe it was. Jordan was not fazed at all. Full disclosure, I wasn’t so much a trooper and made every attempt to take as many photos inside as possible! 😀

Thanks Jordan and your momma Joann for making the trip to Alex for your senior photos!

This is going to be a lot. You might want to grab a mug of tea and get cozy, there is too much cuteness about to happen. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

I met this family a little over 4 years ago when they contacted me to do their first maternity pictures. I still remember making Rachel, almost 8 months preggo, walk, er rather high step it in thigh high snow. Poor momma! Little man Sullivan turned four just two days ago. This is the best part of my job; the story telling. First there was two, then three, now four. I am blessed to be the fly on the wall to welcome their new babies, celebrate milestones, and capture the every day love that is shared among them. So fast forward through all that goodness to celebrate Miss Isla who turned one in January. And what a milestone it is. I spoke to momma Rachel today as I gave her their portrait order, I asked her if I could share these images today.  She got so excited and said it would be awesome. Why? Because it is World Down Syndrome Day (which I knew…but wanted to ask first).

I follow this family on their social media…we’re friends (yeah.. I am bragging) 🙂 and knowing how just after Miss Isla was born they found out that she has that extra chromosome. While it isn’t something I am sure they even thought about, they have embraced, learned and educating all things Isla is.

She is spunky.

She is strong.

She is a bit stubborn (which I really love. All girls should be. Keeps them tough for life).

She is expressive.

She is a fashionista.

She is smiley.

She is beautiful.

She is loved.

Big bro Sully.

I just can’t love this more. I am sad she cried (honestly for about 2.3 seconds) but how her big brother is comforting her fills my heart with such joy it brings tears to my own eyes.

Now, I have to be honest. Isla’s session rivaled the size of many of my senior galleries. There were just too many wonderful expressions I just couldn’t help myself.

I know sometimes these type of images are overlooked. But they are some of my favorites. I have photos of my girls’ faces when they were babies, but I don’t have of their little details. How many chunky arm rolls she had. When she only had two freckles and now has many more. How pudgy her toes were that they looked like they were put on like an afterthought. How she would stick their tongue out when she would concentrate. So parents, don’t forget the details.

And now the cake. She was so adorable with it. Not quite sure of it; should she play with it or eat it or wear it. So guess what, she did all three.

This is exactly how I look at cake.

This is exactly how I want to eat cake.

This is exactly what I look like when I have had too much cake.

And this is how I feel about cake.

Thank you for trusting me G family for all these years. I love watching your family grow.

Miss Jaylee. Her session was a year ago. Yes, A WHOLE YEAR AGO.  In March.  And she drove like some 6 hours to get here!

I am always grateful when seniors (and parents) choose me for their senior photos. It is something I never, ever take for granted. I know that some seniors are researching photographers, trying to figure out which style speaks to them. So when Jaylee and her mom contacted me and told me where they were driving from, needless to say I was flattered. Very flattered.

When booking her session for last March, I was nervous because of unpredictable weather here in Minnesota but it worked out beautifully. I think she was a little chilly, but she didn’t show it. So…..here you go, check them out.

Thank you Jaylee and Kristi! I am thankful for your trust AND hauling yourselves all the way down here for your pics. 🙂
