A quick little share from Lincoln’s 6 month session. So fun to see how he has grown and changed from his newborn session. I LOVE six month sessions. Why?

Because they are usually able to sit up… sometimes they topple over but I always have a spotter nearby.

They can’t run away.

They look at me with the craziest expressions that change in the matter of seconds.

I will give you four examples.

First: he is smiling, albeit just a smirk, it is adorable.

Second: I did something horrible. I. Touched. His. Nose. ******GASP********

Third: he is practicing his duck face. OH PLEASE NO!

Forth: one word, “ew”. Which is my favorite as I do the curled-up lip in disgust like when I see grown men spit in public.

Wouldn’t you love to know what they are thinking? Even if it is written all over their little faces.

Spring. My absolute favorite time of the year, and for so many reasons. Such as but not limited to;

It’s not winter.

The greenest grass of the year. It is so bright it almost looks neon.

My birthday is in April. April 3rd to be exact. I will give you a moment while you jot it down for next year. And a completely random thought, I so love massages, pedicures, Target gift cards.

Dandelions. Nemesis of my husband, but they are cute. Especially when in a bouquet presented by a little kiddo with dirt under their fingernails and possibly around their mouth (why do they eat dirt?).

Did I say it’s not winter?

The weather is perfect. Not too hot, not too cool. Because I sweat. I know, TMI…but I just do and there is nothing pretty about it. Especially my head, my hair is wet, my face is dripping off my makeup. Sometimes that is just me standing perfectly still. Too much “insulation” I suppose.

The blooms. On the trees, flowers, bushes. Oh my. The fragrance is wonderful and the view is amazing. Our previous neighbors used to have a big lilac bush boarding our yards. I would go and pluck a few branches every spring. Now, those neighbors are gone and so is the lilac bush. Sad on both accounts. So last year, I resorted to swiping a few from an undisclosed location. I am sure they weren’t going to raise a fuss about 5-6 missing branches.  Or so I hope. Because I fully intend on doing the same thing now they are blooming again. I am better at asking forgiveness than permission when it comes to harmless trespassing. 😉

From spring to autumn. This is Veda, she traveled over 80 miles to take her senior photos with me. I love all my seniors, but it sure makes a girl with a camera feel good that seniors sought out a photographer that matches their style and is willing to make the hike. So thank you Veda and Nicole. <3

I think this is one of my many favs from her session.

Enjoy your Keepsake Album Veda…it is on it’s way! 🙂

Ok, my inner nerd is going to show and freak flag is about to fly. I am admitting I am addicted to the Alaskan shows on the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. Who is with me? I can’t be the only one on this geek island.

There is a lot to pick from; The Last Alaskans,  Alaskan Bush People,  Deadliest Catch, Ice Lake RebelsAlaska: The Last Frontier

I know there are more shows, but a girl knows when she can fall off the deep end and seriously think she can live up in the “bush” with all those hardworking, slightly crazy (some more than others) recluses.

It all started years ago with the Deadliest Catch. Seriously how can they keep making this show so darn interesting? It is dangerous no doubt, but it is on a boat, lots of water, lots of crab and lots of unkept and I imagine (but then again I don’t) smelly men who DON’T wear lifejackets! Ahem…..crazy!

Then those nutters from the Bush. Really? Yes, the Brown family. They have weird accidents (where did they acquire them, I wonder), they are constantly wet and muddy (rain? did they fall in something? why are they always wet?), and shop at the dump. I am all about reinventing things, I have done some alleyway shopping and dumpster diving in my day. However the “house” made of tires? I am thinking they do not live there year round. No way.

The Last Alaskans. Several families allowed to live on a territory the size of South Carolina, they are the last to live there as after their children live there and pass on, there ends it. The cinematography on this show is incredible! And the soft soothing sounds and how they talk, lull me to sleep. I have probably watched all the episodes but often do not make it to the end of those episodes. zzzzzzzzzzz.

Ice Lake Rebels….they live on the frozen lake, move their home on ground when it thaws. One guy said, “the simple life”. There is NOTHING simple about using an axe to chisel through a couple feet of ice to get water to drink, cook and bathe. Not only does he have to do that work while trying not to die of hypothermia, he has to keep the hole some what clear so that it doesn’t keep freezing over. I am serious he has to get up in the middle of the night, put on a million layers to resemble Raphie’s brother Randy from ‘A Christmas Story’, wander out into the pitch dark, scoop out ice forming from the hole, walk back through knee high snow, back to his house to go back to bed. I am thinking that is anything but simple, fascinating but not simple.

Alaska: The Last Frontier. I love this show. A family of homesteaders, brothers who were raised there, choose to raise their families there and now those children are doing the same. Did you know Atz on that show is the father of the singer Jewel? And looks indentical to my uncle Les? Well you will now…. This is Atz.

This is Les. Oh, and his cute wife and my auntie, Ellen. Seriously, right? Twins separated at birth. I actually showed that pic of Atz to my grandma, she thought it was her son Les. 🙂

So now you know, I am a bit of a nerd and proud of it. I have to blame my dad and his monthly subscription to National Geographic.

And now guess what….I started watching PBS. This addiction is getting worse.

Onto this lovely family! I did their photos several years ago. The girls have grown up from their matching flowy dresses while doing cartwheels, and spinning down the hill in front of their home.

We had an absolutely gorgeous autumn evening for their session. The light was incredible!

And of course we had to add their fur babies.

I just love depth in this series of images. I looked for the perfect frame of dried grass, and flowers. The navy and red just pop.

While the amber light is to die for….something about the girls in this black and white image I love.

So you want fall family photos too now don’t you? I suggest you call me now…those dates are booking so fast! So write it on your “to-do” list, call me, and then check it off your “to-do” list. Just that easy.

I loved Macyn’s session. The beautiful late bit of fall, chill in the air…perfect so I don’t become a sweaty mess, however there was a whole bunch of wind.

We started downtown to shield from the crazy wind…or so we thought.

And the wind found Macyn!!!!!

One of my favs.

Working on my inner hipster. 😉

Why not make the wind work for us with her long hair!

Ok, wait….this one is a favorite too. Perfectly moody.

Thank you Macyn!!!!

Well….most people who have to ride them to school don’t really love them. Honestly. But me as a photographer, will safely slam on the brakes and turn into a parking lot with one that just look like it was begging to be a backdrop. More on that later.

Here is Danielle from her senior session back in September, which really is one if not my favorite time of the year to do sessions. The light is unbelievable. More on that later as well.

We started her session at the studio as she wanted to incorporate her sport in her session. That and a lot of volleyballs!

Stopping traffic lookin’ so good.

See, you agree…it was worth a little mild whiplash to get this kind of cool shot. Ok….stretching here, no whiplash happened. I just like to be dramatic, it makes for better reading.

And here is that September light and a sun shower. Those little dots are rain drops that lasted for about 21 seconds. Yes, I counted. No….I didn’t, I am being dramatic again.

Thank you Danielle!!! Congratulations…you are almost done with high school!!!! AHHHHHHH!
